Leg 1 - RDU to DCA (20. Aug)
Bit of a late start (helps if I actually set the alarm clock) - but made it 15 minutes before boarding. Thank goodness Raleigh has a small airport - took all of 5 minutes to check my bags and get through security... for the first time ever, plane took off on time, and bag was first off the belt.
Leg 2 - Union Station to BWI (and waiting at BWI)
Uneventful train ride... unfortunately my dad freaked out about me missing my flight from BWI so he put me on the train that would get me there at 3 (the flight didn't leave until 8:30pm, and the ticketing counter didn't even open until 5)... so i had some time to kill. Met a man that went to VMI (where Scott went), and his wife went to MBC (where I went). Small world, given the size of my school... Went to a restaurant to grab dinner and spoke to some servicemen on their way to Iraq... some seemed freaked out, others were itching to go... not sure how i would ever feel about that... but it did make me think about my friend Katherine over there. Come back safe!
Leg 3 - BWI to Iceland
First international flight I've ever been on without free alcohol. Boooooo. I was really hoping for a glass of wine to help knock me out. Food was... interesting to say the least. Didn't touch the fluffy pink stuff - I'll wait to experiment when I get to a place with a real kitchen. Did a good job of sleeping the whole way.
Leg 4 - Iceland to Oslo
As comic book guy would say - "Best Flight Ever". I had the entire row to myself, and was able to sprawl out and fall asleep... woke up for breakfast (definitely an improvement from the last meal on iceland air). Arrived in Oslo - again, bag was first off the belt (my good luck must be close to running out)... Does customs exist in Norway? They didn't even look at my passport (I had it stamped in Iceland, but I didn't even have my bag in Iceland)... anyway, had 5 hours to kill, so i decided to bump up my flight and managed to catch the next one out (only had to wait 30 minutes!).
Leg 5 - Oslo to Stavanger (21. Aug)
Yay! 26 hours after leaving Raleigh, I am FINALLY at the first part of my trip... Surprised my friend Lise, so had to wait for her to be able to come pick me up, but totally worth not spending 5 hours in Oslo.
